Race Resources

We offer four different course options: Tungsten, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Each race offers unique challenges but also a lot of fun. We designed each course to highlight the beauty and grit of the Peak to Peak area. On each course you will find a little of everything. Some pavement, steep climbs, and well maintained gravel roads. The climbs will challenge you, the descents will make you smile and the views will take your breath away!

New for 2026, the Ned Gravel Run! Take part in all the fun, but on foot. The run course is the exact same as the Bronze Course and will challenge and excite you just like the bike race!

Are YOU READY?

Ned Gravel is not just another ride.

It’s sustained climbing. At Altitude. And it’s long enough that fueling will determine how your final hour feels.

The guide will help you build a simple, repeatable fueling strategy you can practice in training and execute on race day.

Race Information

NEW IN 2026

The Start and Finish is now in town at Snyder and 2nd St. BUT all courses (except Bronze) will have their time finish about 1 mile outside of town on Caribou Rd. This will be clearly marked leading up to and at the timing mats. From the time stop to the finish line in town, it is a required slow roll. Your race is done once you cross that timing mat, and anyone still racing will be disqualified.

The party starts when you get back to town. Enjoy the cool down mile!

Bronze Course – 8:00am

The Bronze Course is for those who are gravel curious, new to gravel or who do not want the pressure of a “race” situation. It is also a good course for older kids. The Bronze Course starts with the Silver Course at 8:00am and follows the same course for the first 7ish miles. At the end of Cold Springs Rd you turn left and head back up the Peak to Peak Highway. There will be a water aid station here. At the top of the hill you will turn right onto Indian Peaks Dr. and stay straight for 1 mile where you will turn left onto CR126. At the bottom of the hill you will turn left onto Caribou Rd and rejoin all other courses.

Ned Gravel Run- 8:15am

The Run Course is for all runners. At 10.5 miles it is long enough to challenge you, but still approachable for regular runners. The run starts 15 minutes after the last bike wave goes off. We do not expect much overlap with bikes along the way, but it is possible that you will see bikes on the road.

The run starts on Snyder St. in Nederland and heads West out of town on 3rd St. You will climb for about 1 mile on the Peak to Peak Hwy (staying on the right hand shoulder) till you turn right onto Ridge Rd. Runners will need to switch to the left hand side of the road when it is safe to do so. Ridge Rd turns to Cold Springs Rd when the pavement ends. At the end of Cold Springs Rd you turn left and head back up the Peak to Peak Highway (staying on the right hand side of the hwy). There is an aid station at this intersection. At the top of the hill you will turn right onto Indian Peaks Dr. and stay straight for 1 mile where you will turn left onto CR126. At the bottom of the hill you will turn left onto Caribou Rd and rejoin all other courses.

There is a Strava DOWNHILL mile segment from the top of Indian Peaks Rd down onto Caribou Rd. See the link below. Fastest time (excluding top 3 OA winners) wins a Suunto Prize!

On the Highway, please run on the left hand side of the road, with traffic. On Ridge Rd, Cold Springs and 3rd St. please run on the left hand side, facing traffic.

Silver Course – 8:00am

At about 20 miles and 2,200’ of climbing, this race is no slouch. Starting in Nederland you will head north on the Peak to Peak HWY and climb for about a mile before turning right onto Ridge Rd. which turns into Cold Springs Rd. This section is a lot of fun with a few punchy up hills and fast descents. At the end of Cold Springs you will hang a right onto the P2P again for another long road climb. New this year, you will turn left on to CR103 which is guaranteed to be your new favorite climb. At the top you will turn right and head down the Peak to Peak highway. You’ll keep that downhill train rolling for 4 miles before tackling the last hill of the course. It’s a grinder for sure. You will turn right onto CR126 and grind for 3 more miles before turning onto Caribou Rd for a 3 mile downhill to the finish!

There will be a “Time Finish” line on Caribou ~1 mile from town. This is where your time for the race will stop. It will be marked with 400m, 200m and 100m to go signs and flags. You will then have 1 mile to slowly cruise back into town and join the party. DO NOT RACE after the Time Finish. Anyone still racing will be disqualified.

Gold Course – 7:30am

The Gold Course is one (big) step up from the Silver Course. Redesigned in 2023 we removed the most technical sections to make it more gravel bike friendly.  It is 50 miles with ~5900’ of climbing. This course really has it all. To start you head north on the Peak to Peak to HWY and climb for about a mile before turning right onto Ridge Rd. which turns into Cold Springs Rd. This section is a lot of fun with a few punchy hills and fast descents. At the end of Cold Springs you will hang a right onto the P2P again and follow it till you turn left and climb CR103, at the top (Aid Station 1) you will turn left to continue on the Peak to Peak till you turn right onto Gold Hill Rd. This section is another tough section with steep climbs and fast downhills.  Be careful on the descents and be aware of the loose and dry conditions. You will hit your second Aid Station in Gold Hill before heading East down Gold Run Rd. Again be careful on this loose and fast descent. You will hang a right in Historic Wall Street to continue on Four Mile Canyon, for a long (mostly paved) ascent before hitting the Switzerland Trail. We will do our best to keep water at the bottom, but there is water at the top of Switzerland. Switzerland Trail is loose and sandy in sections and rough in others. You will then turn left back on to Gold Hill Rd for a tough section before getting back to the Highway.  Once you hang a left back onto Peak to Peak you will hit a long, fast downhill back to the 103 aid station. Enjoy the next 3+ miles downhill on the P2P until you start climbing again and hit the last real climb on CR126 before a 3 mile long descent back into town and the finish!

Tungsten Course – 7:00am

This is the premier event of Ned Gravel! It is 70 miles and has 8,300′ of climbing.

The Tungsten Course follows the same route as all the other courses. You will head up the Peak to Peak and turn right onto Ridge Rd. and Cold Springs Rd. At the end of Cold Springs you will hang a right onto the P2P again and follow it till you turn right on to Sugarloaf Rd. You will turn left onto Sugarloaf Mtn. Rd and climb to the Switzerland Trail. You will head left onto the Switzerland trail all the back to the HWY. Where Aid Station 103 will be waiting. You will turn right to continue on the Peak to Peak till you turn right onto Gold Hill Rd. This section is another tough section with steep climbs and fast downhills for a couple of miles. Be careful with the loose and dry descents. You will turn left onto Sawmill for a steep descent before turning right onto Lefthand Canyon for a 6 mile long and fast paved descent. Enjoy that because you will be hanging a hard right onto Rowena Trail for a long ~2 mile single track, rocky climb.  Pay attention to your computer and course markings so you don’t pass the turn. There will be a quick water refill at the top of Rowena to help you get up Sunshine Canyon. Watch your speed as you descend into Gold Hill for your second Aid Station. You will then head East down Gold Run Rd.

Equipment Recommendations

Tires

You will need gravel tires for sure! A minimum tire width would be about 35. But a higher volume tire will make it a lot more comfortable. (We won’t be measuring, but if you flat four times that’s on you!)

Shoes

There’s a good chance you will be walking at some point. Road shoes are STRONGLY discouraged.

Nutrition

There are between 1 and 5 aid stations depending on your course. See the course maps for locations. Be prepared to go up to 10-15 miles between aid stations. Drink, Drink, Drink!

Lights

Because of the road sections and for safety reasons front lights are recommended and rear lights are strongly recommended.

Lights are required for Ultra Riders

Tools

At the Feed Zones there will be basic maintenance tools available and possibly a mechanic or two. Please be able to self rescue if you flat or have a mechanical issue on the course. There will be limited on course support.

Helmet

Do we really need to say this? Of course a helmet is required, 100% of the time.

Apparel

It is July in the mountains. Be prepared for warm weather. An afternoon thunder/rain storm is always a possibility. Plan accordingly.

Bikes

A gravel bike is recommended (duh!) but we are all about riding what you got. Mountain Bikes are great, road bikes are less great but can handle the Silver Course.

Where to Stay

Boulder Creek Lodge is right next to the start/finish area and is the best option for staying in Nederland.

Call and mention Dead Man Gravel and get special pricing.

Airbnb is also a good option for finding housing in the Peak to Peak area.

All other hotels are located in Boulder, about a 25 min drive from Nederland.
